This is the same version however, so I don't think there is any difference. I decided to redownload OneDrive again but from microsoft's site: It either shows some files that were synced or the box is empty and just indicates how many MBs it is syncing. But after that, and this is now 2 days ago, OneDrive just keeps on This action seemed to trigger OneDrive from "processing" to "syncing" immediately. Upon further troubleshooting, I turned off Avast as one potential problem (antivirus software), based on this support article: It swapped a few right above or below to the ones that were supposed to be checked/unchecked. I also noticed that it had swapped a few checkboxes from the selectively synced folders that I had set up a few months ago. Did OneDrive delete files from my local device? So then I wondered what had happened in the past 24 hours. I finally noticed that the reinstall had automatically turned on Files On Demand, which I do not want to use at all. I did this repeatedly to confirm OneDrive was the culprit. When quitting OneDrive, CPU load went down and fans calmed down. OneDrive was processing for a long time occupying most CPU and the fans worked overtime on high.

I also don't understand why this is happening, becauseĮverything was perfectly up to date before I downloaded the updated app.īecause syncing was "processing" forever after this update, I first deleted two versions (including the last version mentioned above, and a previous one from a OneDrive subfolder in Applications) and redownloaded the latest version again from the mac store. Know how it will handle files that I am currently working on, but I cannot afford to lose work. If I extrapolate the current speed (# files per minute), it will be February 2020 before OneDrive is done syncing. I installed it but have a lot of problems ever since.

OneDrive came with an automatic update for my Mac (Catalina) a few days ago.
